Capt. Lance P. Sijan, USAF
This man had a remarkable story very similar to John McCain’s. Except he didn’t didn’t sell out his fellow POW’s in exchange for better treatment, nor did he denounce the United States Air Force and the United States of America on television, nor did he sell his country out when he came back home. In fact, he never made it home because he refused to give his North Vietnamese captors any information and eventually succumbed to his brutal treatment on January 22, 1968. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery and courage in captivity.
We could all aspire to be as brave and loyal as he was.
